An Exhibition of Paintings
by Ken Powrie

Friday 7th of December -

Sunday 6th of January

Kenneth Powrie’s imagery is drawn from his childhood experiences in Arbroath, his teaching career in the Middle East and also from Leith, where he lives near. As an outstanding  acoustic guitarist, he has always allowed music and entertainment to influences his paintings. He is very much a painter’s painter and a lover of the arts. This is a stunning exhibition of expressive landscapes, portraits and dramatic harbour scenes.

Fire Station Creative is home to over 30 artists, working in 20 studios. There are painters, printmakers, designers, jewellers, photographers, a textile designer, an upholsterer, an upcycler, an illustrator.

The studios are normally closed to the public but we do host Open Studio weekends twice a year, in June and then November.

There is a wide variety of classes run from FSC - both in the classroom and in artists studios.

If you are interested in learning new skills or refreshing old ones have a look at the classroom page and see if there's something for you.

As well as the creative classes we host groups in yoga, pilates and mindfulness - all listed on the classroom page.

A studio that is made available to groups and private practice offering art therapy in Fife by the generous sponsorship of The Mary Leishman Foundation.

For more information on the groups have a look at the web page and contact the organisations directly.

Fire Station Creative is a facility that was opened by John Byrne in July 2015.

This iconic building was errected in 1934 and housed the Fire and Rescue Service for many years until their move in 2010 to new premises.

It lay empty for several years but thanks to a dedicated group of local business people and artists and the generous support of Fife Council, Creative Scotland, The Roberston Trust, Fife Environment Trust, Barcaple Foundation, Community Union and Educational Institute of Scotland, the facility is now open to the public and available for all things creative!

Fire Station Creative is a social enterprise - all profits raised are reinvested in the property and it's projects - so every cup of coffee sold goes to supporting the arts!

So far - we are delighted to say that we are self sufficient. Lets keep it that way!
